Extortion is a pervasive crime in a number of regions around the world, particularly in Central America. What can we learn from the Italian experience?
Addiopizzo is an Italian civil society organization that promotes community resilience to organized crime by assisting victims of extortion, generating extortion-free business communities and coordinating with law enforcement agencies to combat this crime. At this event, Addiopizzo representatives and Italian prosecutor Antonio Balsamo will share their experiences with the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime and discuss ways to counter extortion.
