Yeo Bee Yin is a Member of Parliament for Puchong, Malaysia, and a politician from the Democratic Action Party, a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition.

Yeo graduated from the University of Technology Petronas with first-class honors in Chemical Engineering and the University of Cambridge with an MPhil. in Advanced Chemical Engineering with Commendation. She was a recipient of the Gates Cambridge Scholarship.

At 29, Yeo first contested in Malaysia's 13th General Election and became the youngest member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly for 2013-2018. In the 14th General Election, Yeo obtained the highest majority in the history of the Bakri parliament constituency and was elected as a Member of Parliament. She was then appointed Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment, and Climate Change under the Pakatan Harapan administration (2018-2020). 

During her tenure as a minister, she made international headlines fighting foreign plastic waste influx by sending them back to the countries of origin, increased rooftop solar adoption in the country by 20 folds, set the first-ever renewable energy target for the country at 20% by 2025, launched Zero Single-use Plastic Roadmap by 2030 and many more. 

Yeo was recognized as one of the Top 10 People Who Mattered Most in the World in 2018 by the renowned scientific journal – Nature. She was also listed as one of the 25 Inspirational Female Climate Leaders who will be shaping the climate agenda in 2019 by "The Ecologist" and selected as one of the Young Global Leaders for the class of 2019 by the World Economic Forum. 

She is the author of the books "Reimagining Malaysia" (2018) and "The Unfinished Business" (2022).
